Our 20' Mallard Series Duck Pit Blinds are fabricated from only lightly used shipping containers. Our entry-level pit blind, the Mallard Series dimensions are 20-feet long, 8-feet wide, and has an internal height (floor to ceiling) of 8ft 3in. The Mallard Series is spacious enough to host six active hunters at once, and even a few others standing by. Our 20' Mallard Series is the usual choice for land companies and hunting guides looking to buy in bulk.
One of the best advantages of our Mallard Series is being able to hunt any wind direction because you can have birds decoying directly into, to the side, or in back of the blind and still have a clear shot. You can also place a large number of decoys upwards of 300, attracting migrating birds much easier. As long as you are not hunting the same ducks day in and day out, these big spreads are insanely effective.
An attractive feature of both our 20-foot Mallard Series and 40-foot Flyway Series Duck Pit Blinds is that they can either be set above ground or completely submerged beneath the earth. Most of the time, our customers set their blinds beneath the ground. However, should you decide to keep yours topside, our blinds utilize a very simple foundation meaning that these structures can be placed nearly anywhere. areas are absolutely fine to set our pit blinds beneath the ground in. Our 20-foot Mallard Series and 40-foot Flyway Series are built with quality in mind. You will never have problems with these blinds buckling in from the weight of the soil or leaking from rainwaters. Inside, we reinforce the lightly used shipping container with steel tubing. This ensures that the pit blind will always be structurally sound no matter what. Prior to our fabrication of steel reinforcement, these shipping containers can withstand a maximum payload of 55 tons! Rest assured; a bit of dirt won't hurt!
Ducks incoming? Simply stand, lightly tap your head or forearm on the seam, and our QuickSnap™ Shooting Doors will fly open automatically to a whopping 42 inch hole (30”x30”) so that you can claim the game!
Our Mallard Series comes equipped with six shooting holes. Each shooting hole comes with our signature QuickSnap™ Shooting Door and a Blackout™ Swivel Tripod Chair. You may also request our optional Shooting Hole Covers to keep the pit blind sealed and dry when not in use.
Both 40’ Flyway Series and 20’ Mallard Series come prepared for any harsh weather all the way down to it’s very flooring. Inside, the floor is built with a treated wood decking that sits roughly 2 feet high from the container floor. The ladder is furnished with a non-slip surface to ensure absolute safety when descending into the Duck Pit Blind. The step to the shooting deck is also furnished with the same non-slip grating. QuickSnap™ Shooting Doors are located, the floor is covered in a weatherproof, slip resistant carpet that softens your steps, but grips your boots.
RetroCon constructs both 40' Flyway Series and 20' Mallard Series with an Integrated Water Pump. Water pumps are a MUST for any in-ground Duck Pit Blind. In league with multiple 5 inch holes along the bottom of the container itself (below the treated wood deck flooring), the Integrated Water Pump will prevent your Duck Pit Blind from emerging from the ground caused by build-up of mud and water. Our Integrated Water Pump (pictured to the left) is a Drummond 3/4 HP with a Stainless Steel Construction and is capable of 4400 GPH. This durable pump is designed for high flow and lift applications. The tough corrosion- resistant housing makes it the ideal pump for any Duck Pit Blind. Because the treated wood deck flooring is built roughly 2 feet high from the container floor, the Integrated Water Pump can be hidden away beneath the trap door.
